Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a self-guided bridge ticket?
A certified guide adds detailed biological, ornithological, cultural and historical interpretation and helps the group notice wildlife and ecological relationships that can be difficult to identify independently.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
No. Wildlife moves freely through the cloud forest, so sightings vary. The guide improves your chances of noticing animals, birds and subtle signs of wildlife.
How large is the group?
Current official tours are organized in small groups of up to 11 guests.
How difficult is the walk?
The activity is moderately active and includes forest trails, changing elevations and suspension bridges. Wet conditions can make some surfaces slippery.
What happens if it rains?
Rain and mist are normal parts of the cloud-forest environment. Tours usually operate in light rain, but the route may change or the activity may be delayed or canceled when conditions affect safety.
When should I book?
Book before arriving in Monteverde because each departure is limited to a small group and preferred times may fill during busy travel periods.

Zipy Ride –
Walking the bridges was beautiful, but having a naturalist guide completely changed the experience. Our guide pointed out birds, insects, plants and signs of wildlife that we would never have noticed independently. We also learned how the cloud forest works and why Monteverde’s climate supports so much biodiversity. The small group made it easy to ask questions, and the pace never felt rushed. Bring rain protection and binoculars because the weather changes quickly and some wildlife is high in the canopy. This was one of the most informative activities of our Monteverde visit.
