Begin with pickup from a confirmed location in Quepos or Manuel Antonio and travel a short distance to the peaceful Natural Reserve Tocorí. Your local guide introduces the farm, the importance of bees to tropical ecosystems and the differences between native stingless Melipona bees and European Apis mellifera honeybees.

After receiving the appropriate protective equipment, safely enter the apiary area and observe at least two working hives. Continue along forest trails where mature trees, native plants, birds and mammals may be seen.

Visit the farm’s small production area to learn about locally made honey, pollen, propolis, beeswax, soaps and other natural products. Finish with a typical Costa Rican lunch before the return transfer.
